Lupita Valencia
Practice Manager
Since May 2023, Lupita has received all clients and patients with a warm and friendly smile as they walk through the door. She is fluent in Spanish and takes pride in overcoming the language barrier by translating and educating the Spanish-speaking community. Even though she had no previous experience in the veterinary field, she has quickly become a pet lover and new best friend of our clinic cat Tiger.
Dr. Perry
Veterinarian
Dr. Perry is a 2015 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine who has been working with Abbott Animal Hospital since her undergraduate days at UGA. She was born and raised right here in Lilburn and is an alumni of Parkview High school. Her interest in veterinary medicine started at a very young age during elementary
school and has a grown to include particular interests in exotic animal medicine, reproduction, and rehabilitation therapy.
Dr. Perry has 3 dogs, a cat, and a rabbit that makes for a lively home! Most of her pets are adoptions or rescues, but one of her dogs is a retired seeing eye dog that she helped to train during her time volunteering for the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind, Inc. She also loves to volunteer at the Georgia Aquarium, where she educates visiters in a multitude of areas throughout the year.
Travel is a particular love of hers, and she has seen many places, including taking an extra year to study veterinary medicine at the Royal College of Veterinary Medicine in London, England prior to her time at Auburn. She still travels to various countries for good will mission trips via Christian Veterinary Missions. When she’s at home, she’s usually teaching her pets new tricks, gardening, baking, painting, or researching new ways to enrich her local community through her love of animals & wildlife.
Dr. Perry is very excited to be officially joining the Abbott Animal family & would be thrilled to meet you and each and every one of your furbabies! So please don’t be shy in saying ‘hello’!

Jeff Miller
Veterinary Technician
Jeff Miller has been a team member since 2006 and currently serves as our veterinary technician. His primary duties include assisting with surgeries and pets in the exam room, preparing and processing laboratory specimens, and taking X-rays. Mr. Miller previously worked in the legal and film industries but decided to get paid for his passion for pet care instead. He enjoys volunteering in the assisted living field and spending time with his dog and cat at home.
Robert Houshel Jr.
Groomer
Robert Houshel Jr. has a broad range of knowledge in pet grooming, training, and the sheer joy of pet ownership. Robert studied horse grooming years ago with Annalisa Vogt of Vogt Riding Academy. Later years brought him to manage Petco training stores around Georgia and present canine training workshops. It was at Petco that Robert began training as a groomer. Robert has a huge heart and has two rescued dogs and two rescued cats.
Carmen Torres Garcia
Veterinary Assistant
In August 2022, Carmen started her career in the veterinary field by working at Abbott Animal Hospital as a kennel technician. She grew up always wanting to work with animals. It doesn’t matter what kind of animal, big or small, she loves them all. Just out of high school, Carmen enrolled in Penn Foster College to become a veterinary technician. Outside of work, she loves to travel, go hiking with her mom and pitbull, Nala, and go to the beach with her bunny, Josey.
Jayme Westbrook
Veterinary Technician
Jayme Westbrook joined our team in August 2024. She was born with the need to be surrounded by animals, nicknamed “Jane of the Jungle” at a young age. She spent most of her younger years into college-age icompeting on horseback in Barrel Racing, competing around the midwest (where she grew up) as well as training horses to ride and for specialty. Through years of learning in the field and firsthand experiences, her heart landed with the animals who needed it most and began to pursue her love for rehabilitation. This led Jayme into a volunteer-turned-employment opportunity at Harnas Wildlife Foundation in Gobabis, Namibia to gain even more hands-on experience. She had her own core group of animals to care for, but was also coordinator of a team of 50+ volunteers, working with and caring for over 100 rehabilitated animals ranging from Lions and Cheetahs to Vervet Monkeys and Chacma Baboons. After spending just shy of a year in Africa, it was time for her to come back to the U.S. where she then moved from Minnesota to Fairbanks, Alaska to study Wildlife Biology and Conservation to pursue a more wildlife-based career. Unfortunately, her plans had to suddenly change, which brought her to Georgia to be with her parents, but this change brought her to one of Atlanta’s larger animal shelters, and her career in the veterinary field took off. After 10 years in Georgia, Jayme is now experienced to a senior level and is confident in her capabilities to give the animals she comes across the love, respect, and care they deserve.
In her personal time, Jayme likes to spend time with her loving husband and full household of “furkids”. She spends most, if not all, of her time outdoors. Favorite pastimes being hiking the local trails, reading on their screened-in porch, or working in the yard. Jayme is excited to start this next chapter with the Abbott Animal Hospital family!

Felicia Sherman, kennel manager, and veterinary assistant, has been with Abbott since 2018. She carries us through our day-to-day operations at Abbott Animal Hospital. Not only does she tirelessly and meticulously oversee the care of our boarding and grooming pets, but she keeps a close eye on them as if they were her own pets at home. Felicia enjoys rehabilitating and placing homeless pets in new forever homes. Both a lover of cats and dogs, she has a long-haired chihuahua named Baby Girl, a Beagle named Lucky, a pitbull named Romeo, and a cat named Cheddar. Felicia graduated from Parkview High School and attended the veterinary technician program at Gwinnett Tech College.
Caroline Bowen
Receptionist
Caroline joined the Abbott Animal Hospital team as a receptionist in August 2022. She has always grown up with dogs in her household, but she has a love for all animals, big and small. Since she was a teenager, she has been pet-sitting for family, friends, and neighbors. She is in school to become a youth minister, but she will always have a passion for animals. She has been enjoying fostering doctor-patient relationships and getting clients the help they need. She takes what she learns in the office and applies it to her two beagles, Molly and Rosie.
Alizon Valencia
Veterinarian
Soon after Alizon graduated from Berkmar High School in 2020, she decided that she wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She joined Abbott Animal Hospital’s staff in August 2022 and serves as a veterinary assistant. She is currently attending Ashworth College to become a registered veterinary technician. She hopes to continue furthering her education to one day become a veterinarian herself. Alizon is fluent in Spanish and enjoys translating and educating Spanish-speaking pet owners. When she is not working at Abbott, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, Alejandra, the bunny, and her dogs, Lucas and Kelly.
